Agriculture has experienced several key inflection points in its history. Mechanization in the 50s and the ‘Green Revolution’ of fertility and crop protection chemistry in the 70s and 80s resulted in increases in harvested crop volume. Key advancements in hybrid genetics in the 80s and early 2000s, followed by the biotech ‘input’ era that started around 2000, led to a dramatic upsurge in the ability of agriculture to feed the growing world population.
We are now at a point in history when breeding advances, technology and a tremendous amount of hard-won knowledge are enabling us to move beyond incremental improvements in crops as commodities.

Nuseed has built a successful global commercial seeds business with world-class germplasm and R&D programs and advanced molecular capabilities at two industry-leading Nuseed Innovation Centers, one in each hemisphere. By developing input plant traits for top agronomic performance and output plant traits for specific new end-uses, Nuseed is creating new market opportunities and building the Nuseed Value Chains to supply them.
In 2019-2020 alone Nuseed will have commercialized two proprietary crops for very specific and value-added end-use markets. Carinata is grown in Argentina for renewable fuel and Nuseed Omega-3 Canola is grown in the U.S. as a sustainable plant-based source of the essential omega-3 nutrient for aquafeed (Aquaterra®) and human nutrition (Nutriterra®). The growing regions for these proprietary crops are anticipated to expand rapidly to meet the increasing demand.
As well as these, Nuseed’s Monola, Onyx Sunflowers, Wholis and BMR Sorghum have all been developed for specific end-users.
