Carinata
Carinata, also known as Brassica carinata, is a sustainable non-genetically modified oilseed crop. It’s harvested globally for alternative biofuels and animal feed. Here’s why it’s a game-changer: The Carinata seed has about 42-45% high-quality inedible oil in winter environments, making it an excellent alternative for the production of second-generation biofuels. It is a certified and sustainable crop that is inserted between existing rotations, providing the farmer with one more alternative for the diversification of crops in rotation.
Carinata
With successful use in North and South America, we are excited to be able to offer this novel hybrid to European growers. Initially we will be running a limited pilot launch followed by a full rollout in autumn 2024.
The growers selected will gain significant cover crop soil regeneration benefits and maximise use of current farmland and equipment. Growing Nuseed Carinata on existing farmland, after main crop harvest and before next season’s planting, helps protect land, sequester carbon, and improve conditions for the following main crop.
We have provided a variety of resources to support producers interested in Carinata. To stay up to date with the launch, register your interest
