Dr. Barbara Davis is the newest member of the Nuseed Nutritional regulatory team. The regulatory team is advancing market access for Nuseed Omega-3 Canola around the world. Regulatory applications are filed within countries to demonstrate the safety of new products, and Nuseed’s team has extensive strength in agricultural products – specifically transgenic seeds. Barbara complements the team with experience in gaining approvals for finished ingredients and is responsible for advancing Aquaterra and Nutriterra oils. She is also supporting the commercial side of the business as the scientific lead for these brands.
Barbara is a registered dietitian and earned her PhD in molecular biology and nutrition at the University of Florida, where she developed the institute’s initial line of transgenic mice. She is especially interested in nutrient-gene interactions and using science to develop healthy, sustainable food. Her professional highlights involve developing and leading clinical trials and safety studies, including research for the very first infant formulas with Omega-3.
Barbara was attracted to Nuseed Nutritional because the work unites her passions – she loves how Nuseed is applying biotechnology to create sustainable, nutritionally relevant products. During her first few months with us, she has been most impressed by the imagination and creativity Nuseed has shown in adapting a seeds company toward human nutrition business.
