Each year Nuseed’s Sunflower hybrids are tested on a planter stand by seed size and lot # in order to attain the best singulation of seed to the furrow. Using the John Deere ProMax 40, Case IH 1200 and Precision setups, Nuseed identifies which plate to use, a singulation percentage, skips/multiples, vacuum settings, seed release index and settings for the double eliminator settings. These tests are all done at planting speeds of 4.4, 5.2 and 6 mph.
This also marks the fourth year of planter stand testing for Nuseed’s distribution partner, Legend Seeds. Legend intends to release planter stand data to help customers improve their singulation and plantability. The main goal of testing is to be able to provide our customers with a recommendation that will allow them to achieve a minimum of 97% singulation for all the hybrids that our distributors sell. A significant amount of data not only gives its customers an advantage before they head to the field but also lets them know if there may be any challenges that they need to be prepared for.
