PodVault®: Nufarm’s indicator of improved Pod Shatter tolerance
In a recent canola grower survey, 55% of growers said they wanted increased pod shatter tolerance.

When canola pods shatter before harvest, it results in less yield and less profit. Harvest conditions can change quickly, so choosing hybrids with improved pod shatter tolerance helps keep more grain in the bin and provides extra flexibility at harvest.

Introducing PodVault®

PodVault Logo Horiz CMYK

PodVault® is Nufarm’s trusted indicator of improved pod shatter tolerance in canola varieties.

When you see the PodVault lock, the variety has been tested using a peer-reviewed and scientifically validated rating system that measures pod strength and resistance to shattering.

Only varieties rated Moderately Tolerant or higher earn the PodVault lock.

PodVault protection is available in existing Nufarm canola varieties; Hunter TF and Eagle TF.

  • Harvest with confidence
  • More flexibility at harvest
  • Better returns through reduced seed loss

For more information, ask your agronomist or contact your Nufarm Seeds team.

How the PodVault rating works

PodVault uses a standardised lab test to compare pod shatter tolerance across varieties.

  1. Harvest 20 mature pods
  2. Pre-condition the pods at 40 degrees for 24 hrs
  3. Put the pods in a container in a Geno/Grinder® at 1,000 RPM for 30, 60, 90 secs and score shatter after each interval
  4. Translate scores into ratings with only varieties scoring Moderately Tolerant or higher labelled as PodVault
